Avyi Dikaiou Kyriakidou was born in Nicosia in 1946. After graduating from high school, she moved to England to follow her love for art. She studied Art and Design at Manchester College of Art (Manchester University) with specialisation in Fashion and Textiles.
Upon completing her studies, she moved back to Cyprus and started working in the fashion industry for the next few years. She also taught art in various positions. Over the next eighteen years she taught art in Secondary Education, all the while spending her free time making her own creations.
Avyi has experimented with various approaches and techniques, such as etching, pencil drawing, still life painting and life painting, though her primary interest and focus is embroidery. Concerning herself with embroidery, she produced the bulk of her work. She presented her embroideries in two solo exhibitions in Nicosia. She also participated in other, group exhibitions.
Her works are found in the National Library and in private collections.
